Virtualization

What about Proxmox?

Never heard of Proxmox until a month ago.  Now I'm a big fan.

Proxmox is built on proven virtualization and storage technology that has been around for a while.  Using the KVM hypervisor and Linux Containers (LXC) for virtualization along with a clean and simple management interface to bring it all together.  And for shared storage you have a few options.  The quickest and easiest way to provide shared storage to your new Proxmox cluster would be using the built in Ceph storage.  Proxmox using Ceph creates a very nice Hyper Converged Infrastructure (HCI) solution.  You can always leverage your existing NAS solution using NFS or iSCSI.  However, iSCSI is going to take a bit more time and experience to implement successfully.

Whatever you choose to do with it and however far you decide to roll it out in your enterprise is up to you.  But, I think it's definitely worth a look.
